Hahnel Inspire Wireless LiveView Remote Control Review

It’s funny how sometimes a widget turns up just after you felt the need for it. Over Christmas I was staking out our bird table and bemoaning the need to shoot from a ‘hide’ and thinking to myself – wouldn’t it be easier to place the camera out there and shoot from the comfort of my sofa? And Voila! I’ve been lucky enough to have Hahnel’s new Inspire remote knock at my door

Nikon D4 Pre-Production Review

If you already use a D3s (or D3) you’ll feel right at home with the D4. It’s like an old friend, but one that’s been to the gym. There are subtle differences in the layout and overall form factor, and in fact it was explained to me that there are only three things shared between the older D3s and the new D4; the physical sensor size, the F mount and the 100% viewfinder coverage. Everything else has been redesigned.

Canon EOS 1D X Hands-on Review

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to play with a Canon EOS-1D X. It was still one of the factory sample camera bodies so I wasn’t allowed to analyze the image or video quality. However, I was able to test out the new controls and experiment with many of the new features and functions.

Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens Review

After spending forever carting lenses that weigh 4kg and upwards around, what an absolute breath of fresh air it was to just go out shooting with the Sigma! It’s so much lighter, making it far more portable, and when paired up to a crop sensor camera it offers an incredible amount of reach.

Nikon D7000 Review

It may be small, but the D7000 packs a very powerful punch and as I write this, pretty much stands as the best DX DSLR to roll out of the Nikon factory to date. Despite the size and lower spec, I’ve found it actually compliments the mighty D3s (yes, really) as a second body quite well and I’ve enjoyed shooting with it not only at home in the UK but as far afield as the freezing valleys of Yellowstone National Park in winter.

New Nikon D5100 Digital SLR

It’s been almost two years since the Nikon D5000 was launched, and today its replacement arrives – the new Nikon D5100. The latest in Nikon’s consumer range of DSLR cameras, the D5100 has the same sensor as used in the D7000 and has also retained the tilt-and-swivel LCD screen from its predecessor. It is a lightweight camera packed with some great features.
