I didn’t think that more than a year on, the Micro Four Thirds posse would still have such a dominant position in the new market space they created. The move seems to have genuinely caught the camera world off-guard and now we’re beginning to see some really impressive offshoots…

When I visited this year’s Focus exhibition there was a bit of a buzz on the Bowens stand. The reason they were so upbeat was that they had just developed another new model! It wasn’t on show, but I did get to see a pre production version…

The prevailing fashion of our time is for dramatic landscapes – no matter what the subject – and low angles, wide lenses, high colour, pumped contrast and warm tones, all combining to create textbook impact. In the main, though, images with such impact become fictional representations of reality.

Aperture was originally introduced around the time that photographers had just started to embrace the RAW format. Even back then, the benefits of shooting in RAW were apparent, for example not having to worry about in-camera white balance settings, because in RAW, you can always adjust your white balance afterwards, same as if you had set it correctly in the camera in the first place…

Wacom are in a class of their own, literally. I can’t think of a single competitor who makes a range of tablets that are as synonymous with the digital side of photography as Wacom.
