Image Stabilized binoculars have been around for a while and continue to be very popular, so clearly this technology is more than just a gimmick. To see just what a difference Image Stabilising makes I was loaned a pair of Canon’s 8×25 IS binoculars for a weekend in the Lake District. This would be the first time I had spent any quality time with a pair of image stabilised binoculars, so I was interested to find out what I would make of them.

Time-lapse photography is not a new thing and is a well used technique for both film and still photography. We came across this video by photographer Mike Flores, created with time-lapse photography and were stunned by its beauty. Have a look at this video and make your own mind up.
Stop-motion is a similar technique to time-lapse in that in uses still image frames strung together to form a video. Kim Pimmel uses the motor from a record player, a variation of light sources and a Nikon D90 digital SLR to create a hypnotic video. The resulting light show is truly spectacular, and you could achieve it in the living room of a flat.

Surf-wear manufacturer Rip Curl teamed up with Timeslice films to shoot some professional surfers using the “bullet time” technique – a visual effect that allows the audience’s point-of-view to move around the scene at a normal speed while the action unfolding is played out in slow motion. What makes this particular project so interesting to us at Warehouse Express is that the video was created using 52 Canon DSLRs!

A while back I purchased a Canon G11. Partly because I’ve lacked a decent compact camera for a while, and partly because I’ve always been a bit fascinated with high-speed flash synchronization. For those who are scratching their heads at what that means, the flash sync speed of any camera is the fastest shutter speed you can use with flash before the shutter and flash fail to synchronize together, and you get a failed photo.

Canon’s release of the S95 has excited comment from many bloggers and review sites as to whether it is a worthy update on its predecessor, the S90, which was very well received but had a couple of niggling problems. With these in mind I took the S95 on holiday with me to Ibiza for a thorough trial run.

Over the next few days and weeks I am to be given a new Canon EOS 60D digital SLR to test, review, and form an opinion on. Let me know what it is you want to know about the camera, what you’d like to see pictures of, and tests you’d like to see performed. View it as a kind of remote-control review, or a test-by-proxy, if you like.
