Personally I'd rather have two CF slots like the D3, but I can see the advantage of 1 SD & 1 CF for broader appeal (e.g. D90 upgraders with SD, or D200 upgraders with CF) + easy access to the SD card with a laptop slot, as you mention. The main attraction of this camera for professionals is the dual card slot, which you do not mention. I think it's the only camera in this price range to have this feature.This helps preserve my sanity as all files can be backed up to a second card & images can be easily loaded into a sd slotted laptop on site. I know card failure (and hence heart failure!) is uncommon but it can happen! why take the risk? I hope dual slots become the norm.
