He’ll Be Back…

Whilst wandering the floors of Photokina, we came across a sight that made our weary feet stop, forget their tiredness and run over to check out what it was all about! Yukon Advanced Optics are treating visitors to the show with a surprise in the shape of a Terminator/Robocop/Transformer-style moving camera.

The friendly, if a little formidable, fellow is made up of a pair of binoculars that serve as his eyes, and a body consisting of a nightvision scope and a spotting scope. Activated by both sound and movement, or operated by remote control, Commandant Yukon moves his arms, legs and head and is quite a charmer. Although from the way he was eyeing up the surrounding stands, we did start to wonder if the Commandant might be plotting to draft in the rest of his army for a military coup – Photokina under the control of a 1.5′ robot would be a sight to be seen indeed!

Unfortunately our dreams were shattered when we were told that he is just for show at this stage; fingers crossed we’ll see more from him in the future though…
