Nikon D4 Pre-Production Review

If you already use a D3s (or D3) you’ll feel right at home with the D4. It’s like an old friend, but one that’s been to the gym. There are subtle differences in the layout and overall form factor, and in fact it was explained to me that there are only three things shared between the older D3s and the new D4; the physical sensor size, the F mount and the 100% viewfinder coverage. Everything else has been redesigned.

Canon EOS 1D X Hands-on Review

Yesterday I was given the opportunity to play with a Canon EOS-1D X. It was still one of the factory sample camera bodies so I wasn’t allowed to analyze the image or video quality. However, I was able to test out the new controls and experiment with many of the new features and functions.

Nikon D7000 Review

It may be small, but the D7000 packs a very powerful punch and as I write this, pretty much stands as the best DX DSLR to roll out of the Nikon factory to date. Despite the size and lower spec, I’ve found it actually compliments the mighty D3s (yes, really) as a second body quite well and I’ve enjoyed shooting with it not only at home in the UK but as far afield as the freezing valleys of Yellowstone National Park in winter.

Pentax K-5 Review

I have a special place in my heart for Pentax. It’s what started my journey into the world of photography. I jumped on board when WEX asked me to test the new Pentax K5, hoping to bring back some early photography memories and try out a new DSLR.

Canon EOS 60D Review

We were trying to work out who the 60D is aimed at and judging by what weʼve seen so far, quite a wide range. Sounds like more of a conclusion than a mid-review statement, but it needs quantifying long before we get to the end piece. I think this is where Canon have been quite clever, the 60D is accessible from all angles and from all levels, whether you’re moving up, buying a main or even a second body.

Tell us what you want to know about the Canon EOS 60D!

Over the next few days and weeks I am to be given a new Canon EOS 60D digital SLR to test, review, and form an opinion on. Let me know what it is you want to know about the camera, what you’d like to see pictures of, and tests you’d like to see performed. View it as a kind of remote-control review, or a test-by-proxy, if you like.

Canon EOS 550D Review

I’m the kind of person who loves ‘stuff’ it doesn’t matter what that stuff is just as long as it is something. So I was delighted when this arrived in my office a few weeks ago giving me the chance to have a play! With Easter weekend and a trip home to Scotland planned I would put this little baby through its paces!

Arctic Adventures with the D3s

One of the most exciting & challenging shoots I’ve ever done was during my trip to Lapland, in Sweden. The trip came about when I was booked to photograph a wedding at the world famous Ice Hotel. This was roughly the same time when the Nikon D3s was launched and was the perfect opportunity to test the camera for its high ISO capabilities in such low light and extreme conditions of as low as -30C.

Olympus E-P1 Review

The Olympus E-P1 is a beautiful piece of kit; it’s not all about the tech at all. It looks and feels like a treasured 35mm film camera from the ’60s. It’s easy to make new stuff sort-of-space-age (black plastic?) which usually works for a month or two, but capturing a timeless but nostalgic look is much tougher.

Canon EOS 7D Review

Canon has taken the developments both pre and post digital, and provided a fast, high quality camera body for both stills and video. It has improved metering, focusing and a gamut of new features that raise the stakes across the DLSR board. Read the full review…
