Tell us your cam's id. If it is a miniDV tape based camcorder, it is big chance that you are not able transfer your files directly to the card. Otherwise you would get a manual. If it is a mini DV camcorder, you need to connect the camcorder's DV port (not USB) to the computer's firewire port (not USB) using a firewire cable. Import the video using your video editor or an import tool. Since you did not aware us which computer, we have no way to know what you might get in hands to use. USB and USB-to-firewire converter things is useless. It's all depends on pin number on the camcorder's port. Your computer's firewire port could be 4-pin, 6-pin or 9-pin.

Providing you have the correct connection on your PC and the software that was supplied with your camcorder, it should be possible to connect your camcorder to your computer directly via firewire cable. You can then capture the movies from your camcorder and save them to your hard drive. These can then be burned onto DVD (if you have a DVD burning drive in your PC) or copied onto a memory card via a card reader or USB pen drive.

I need a recommendation to put a video from a canon camcorder on the computer avoiding using a flash card? I need to finish a biology project and we had to produce video and I have a Canon camcorder. Finally I have the files on the camera, but I am clueless how to get it on my hard drive. It doesn't save to the flash card by some reason, is there a way to put it on the memory card without puitting it on the computer prior? Or is there a way to get it on with out the flash card? It is very important to finish it faster thank you!

I'm in a love/hate relationship with digital memory because of how prices are always, and I mean always falling. I absolutely hate buying SD Cards for my R4 / R4i at (seemingly) a crazy bargain price only to see it become ten percent cheaper a few months later.(Submitted using Nintendo DS running R4i DS Post4i)

Hello,

Did you try recording more than 7 hours in LP mode on a 32Gb card? I've spotted a curious bug: when there is approximatively 5h45 (18Gb written on the card) on the card (depending on the compression I think), the camera stop recording by itself, and do not want to record anymore.

I even can't copy the card content on the PC with the USB cable, the camcorder will refuse any connection, and will be unable to format the card. The card seems to work correctly, as I was able to fill it with files, and unload them again...

Hi John,

As you've sen from the review I'm really keen on the camcorder itself. I have the WP-V1, I haven't used the housing very much, my emphasis is on stills and 'unfortunately' my last trip up to the Farnes was really really good and I decided to stick with what I knew best! I was also hoping to sort out some lighting over the winter to get more out of it underwater. On the small number of dives that I have made with it I've been pretty impressed with the natural light results - that was in very shallow UK waters. It's very pleasant to use but there's no hiding the fact that it is light on controls - most particularly White Balance, so you have to set up for your dive beforehand. I am considering waterproofing the remote!

I suspect that the results will be excellent in tropical waters where the lighting is more consistent and superb under a good set of lights. The housing is as small as possible and very comfortable but I wish they had sorted out some way to allow menu/control access - that said it it is very quite reasonable in comparison with other housings and I'm expecting to be quite happy with it for the shallow water survey and species recording I bought it for. I hope to report back more fully when I've used it more.

Regards

Hi Rob,
As a keen and experienced diver I would like to move up to a purpose-built underwater camcorder. For the previous 2 years I have achieved surprisingly good video results using my compact camera on maximum resolution and adjusted white balance and even got some excellent macro footage. I want to make sure that the HF200 is the correct camera to opt for when used in a WP V1 housing. How have you found it underwater?
