As a professional photographer, I use this body as a back up, although more and more Im using it as a main camera.

Stop down using a nice fast lens like a F2.8 lens on and you will not be disapointed.

Well I started with film (that is how old I am!) and worked myself through the Canon range Canon T70, Canon T90, 300D, 20D, 40D and now this 7D and this IS the best camera I have ever owned, we were going to buy a 5D mark II but the slow shutter fps was a show stopper as we cover sports as well as other general photography.
If I had the money I'd go for 2 x 7D's and 2x 5D mark II for our wedding work, but to be honest there is not much difference in quality (in real life terms) between the two so as the best all rounder go for a 7D. Oh and BTW buy lots of memory camera that 18 meg sensor in RAW eats them! LOL

I am well pleased with my new 7D, I was thinking of the 5D MK2 but the cost was a little too much, I got the 20D when it was released a long time ago and the differences are superb. Well Pleased.
Have not tried the Video yet, I bet it will be real good.

I think all the camera manufacturers are missing an opportunity with SLR's in particular. The optimum sensor has to be square. The current proportions are from the 35mm film format. There can be few good reasons to keep these proportions. At least give people the choice. It would be a big leap forward for quality, which is currently ill defined blurred and not focused on the pictures that result out of all the technology. More more more, faster faster faster. How many quality shots are missed twisting the camera back and forth. One exception is a shot of the horizon, but even in the slipway shot the ends are cropped off. Enough Said ! Allan

Well, Canon have finally listened to the users (better known as photographers) and fitted the 7D with items that should have been on the 5D mk2 let alone the lesser models. Things like wireless flash, full sealing, decent AF and AF points, fast FPS etc.
As a Pentax man ( K10D and K20D) I have had a weather sealed wireless flash camera for years. However with only a slow AF and none FF in Pentax armoury, I was looking to have a FF camera to create that step up in my photo journey. And yet, Canon bring out this! And it is "only APS-C"!!!!!
It is a camera I am seriously considering in getting, unless Pentax bring out a stunning replacement for the K-7 (I have not bought) with more accurate TTL, better AF and more accurate exposure.
Hmmmm, what do I do? I have a lot of Pentax lenses, but?

I understand that the 7D is mainly a still camera, but if Canon are going to include HD video, I cannot understand why they do not fit a tilting LCD, which would make taking video much easier. It seems one is expected to hold the camera at arms length to view the LCD and focus at the same time, while also trying to compose and track a shot. Although one can set an aperture to give a long depth of field it does seem that more development of the video is required. Maybe the next model will develop the idea of video to at least include a tilting LCD which would make it easier to use.

Seeing that there are now many wireless remotes around now, I would liked to have seen when set to video the remote on/off switching by wireless.
