In last month’s Gallery Competition we set the public a challenging theme of ‘The Great Outdoors’, a theme which we had hoped would get the entries flowing and we weren’t disappointed. We received a huge variety of wonderful photos – beautiful, rural, landscapes throughout the seasons, colourful wildlife, and nature in all its natural glory.

During the day you’ll learn how to get the best out of your digital SLR camera by escaping the monotony of Auto mode and exploring some of the manual functions to discover the benefits of understanding aperture, ISO, focal length, histograms and exposure.
Today’s attention will be on the new D3200, a worthy replacement to the extremely popular entry-level D3100 Digital SLR. This isn’t just a camera for beginners though – with a 24.2 megapixel DX-format sensor and improved ISO range, it’s an exciting addition to an already impressive Nikon DSLR range.
I tend to shoot my X100 in JPG mode purely because the image quality out of the camera is almost always useable and I don’t find myself wanting the extensibility that the RAW files may give me. I’ve shot this camera at 6400 ISO and the noise handling is just sublime.

First things first, I have been spoiled rotten having the opportunity to use a Graphics Tablet as part of my workflow (my day job) since about 2006 – so my expectations are already high for this latest instalment, well it has been a 3 year wait. What could Wacom deliver that is more than I could wish for?
Pre my Wacom days I was anti-Graphics Tablet. Then I moved jobs and there on my new desk was a Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet. Horrified at the thought of using one, I decided to listen to the old adage: the only thing to fear was fear itself.
Astronomy is one of the oldest of the Natural Sciences, if not the oldest, and one which can be taken up by practically anyone with very little knowledge or equipment from the outset. It’s a science, in which amateur astronomers can provide results of genuine interest and further the understandings of astronomy at large, and like all hobbies and past-times, it has a start place, and everyone has to start somewhere.
